About Our Mattresses

Are these new mattresses?
Yes! Every mattress we carry is brand new, sealed in factory plastic, made from top U.S. mattress brands, and backed by a manufacturer’s warranty.

Are these used mattresses?
Nope. Nothing is used, refurbished, or returned — only brand new, top-quality mattresses.

Are you a locally owned and operated business?
Absolutely! My wife and I personally run this small, local shop right here in Ventura. Because we keep our overhead low, we’re able to pass serious savings on to local families. We’re part of the Mattress by Appointment network — over 330 locally owned stores nationwide. Through this partnership, we offer private-label mattresses made in the same U.S. factories as the big-name brands, using the same high-quality materials… just without the sky-high retail prices. That means families like yours save BIG MONEY on the same quality the big stores charge more for.

What brands of mattresses do you carry?
We only carry top U.S. mattress brands made with CertiPUR-US® or Greenguard Gold certified materials for safety and quality — no cheap stuff allowed. Each truckload brings in different inventory, and what’s available can literally change from one appointment to the next. We only have space for one or two of each model in each size, and the best deals always go the quickest.

Shopping Experience

Where can I try or buy your mattresses?
We set up private, one-on-one appointments at our Ventura shop. You’ll have the entire showroom to yourself with no pressure — just time and space to try out every floor model we’ve hand-selected to offer comfort and quality at every budget. Laying on different mattresses in person is the most important step to make sure it’s truly the right fit for you.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?
Yes! Most families use our easy $10 down payment plan option because it lets you spread out payments over time — no hard credit check required. You can take your mattress home the same day, or have it delivered right to your door. Fast, simple, and stress-free! Ask me about this $10 down deal — it’s our most popular option.

Is there a layaway program available?
Yes, we offer in-house layaway. Once it's fully paid, you can take it home.

Do you price match?
We don’t have to — our prices are already lower than normal retail stores every day because we keep our overhead minimal. Plus, we sometimes get special deals we can pass along to customers on even better mattresses you won’t find anywhere else — and those deals always go fast!

Do you have sales or promotions?
We don’t have to. We don’t rely on gimmicky sales or promotions. Our prices are low every day of the year because we run lean and mean — no high retail markups here. Other stores may carry the same great quality from top U.S. brands, but they have way more overhead to cover. It’s that simple. Our savings get passed on to YOU.

Shipping & Delivery

What delivery options do you offer?
We offer same-day, local delivery to your front door or garage. In-home setup for new frames or adjustable bases is available for an extra charge if needed.

How long does delivery take?
Most of our mattresses are in stock and can be delivered the same day! Our all-time record is 12 minutes — but let’s be honest, that’s not the norm.

Will you set up my new mattress and remove my old one?
Standard delivery includes removal of your old mattress and/or box spring from the first floor at no extra charge. Frame or furniture removal is not included. Deliveries to the second or third floor may require an additional fee. In-home setup of new frames or furniture is also not included in the standard delivery, but may be available for an extra charge upon request.

Can I pick up my mattress instead?
Absolutely! We even provide straps if you need to tie it down. Some mattresses and box springs come packed in compact boxes that fit easily into smaller cars — you might not even need a truck!

Do you ship outside the local area or out of state?
Sometimes! If you're interested, we can discuss options after you visit and test out mattresses in person. We require an in-person visit to make sure the mattress is the right fit for you — and to complete secure payment arrangements.

Returns & Warranty

What is your return policy?
All sales are final. That’s why we give you the time and privacy to test everything thoroughly before buying — no rushed decisions, no surprises.

How long is the mattress warranty?
Most mattresses come with a 10-year manufacturer warranty. Some premium models offer 20-year manufacturer warranties.

What does the warranty cover?
Manufacturer defects. Policies vary slightly by brand, but they all stand behind their products.

What can void the mattress warranty?
Separating the law tag from the mattress. The law tag lists important information like the brand, model name, manufacturing date, and materials — it proves the mattress is authentic. Damage like rips, stains, burns, or other physical abuse. Improper support, like using a broken or incorrect frame or foundation. Always use a proper foundation to protect your mattress — see your warranty card for full details.

How do I file a warranty claim?
Start by contacting Steven directly at 805-276-0085. Any Mattress by Appointment dealer across the U.S. can also help if ever needed.

Do I need my receipt for a warranty claim?
Yes. Keep your proof of purchase! We usually have it on file, but it’s smart to save a copy just in case. An easy way is to take a photo of the receipt and email it to yourself so you always have a digital backup.

Mattress Care & Maintenance

Do I need to flip or rotate my mattress?
Most modern mattresses should not be flipped. Rotate head-to-foot every 6 months to keep wear even.

How do I clean a mattress if it gets dirty?
Important: Never vacuum up liquids unless your machine is specifically designed for wet use. Standard vacuums aren’t built to handle moisture and can easily get damaged or stop working altogether.

If the mattress gets wet (like from an accident or spill), follow these steps:

  • Blot the wet area immediately.
Use clean towels to soak up as much liquid as possible. Press down firmly — don't rub — to avoid pushing moisture deeper into the mattress.

  • Dry the mattress completely.
Open windows, set up fans, or use a blow dryer on a cool setting. Let the mattress dry all the way through before vacuuming or spot-cleaning.

  • Vacuum the mattress surface.
Use your regular household vacuum. Ideally, use the hose or upholstery attachment (the long skinny piece or soft brush). Think about gently vacuuming your couch — not dragging the big floor head across the mattress.

  • Spot-clean any stains.
Dab lightly with a mild soap and water solution or a gentle fabric cleaner. Don’t soak the mattress.

  • Sprinkle baking soda over the mattress.
Lightly cover the entire surface. Baking soda helps pull out lingering odors and any remaining moisture.

  • Let it sit for a few hours.
Give the baking soda time to absorb smells and refresh the mattress.

  • Vacuum again to remove the baking soda.
Slowly go over the entire mattress to pick up all the powder.

  • Use fitted sheets and a waterproof mattress protector moving forward.
This makes cleaning easier and helps protect your mattress — and your warranty.

How often should I vacuum my mattress?
If you don’t use a mattress protector, you should vacuum your mattress about every 2–3 months to keep it fresh, clean, and free of dust, allergens, and debris.

Here’s how to do it the right way:

  • Strip all bedding before you start.

  • Use your regular household vacuum.
Ideally, attach the hose or upholstery tool — the long skinny piece or soft brush. (Think of it like gently vacuuming your couch with the hose attachment for better suction — not dragging the big floor head that picks up dirt from the bottom of your shoes across your mattress.)

  • Vacuum the entire surface slowly, paying extra attention to seams, edges, and any creases where dust can build up.

If you already use a waterproof mattress protector and wash it regularly, you only need to vacuum your mattress about once or twice a year. The protector keeps most dust, dirt, and moisture from ever reaching the mattress in the first place. Adding a good waterproof protector not only makes cleaning easier — it also helps protect your mattress warranty, since most stains can void warranty coverage.

Does a new mattress have a break-in period?
Yes. Like new shoes, your mattress can take around 30 nights to fully break in.

How long does a mattress last?
Most mattresses last 8–10 years, but comfort and cleanliness matter just as much as age.

You want your spine and neck to stay in a neutral position while you sleep. If your mattress feels like it’s throwing your body out of alignment, you might be falling asleep — but not actually getting restful sleep.

Our bodies are designed to heal during sleep, but they can only do that when we’re properly supported.

If your current mattress leaves you feeling sore, restless, or tired, it might be time for a new one.

Choosing the Right Mattress

What sizes do you carry?

  • Twin: 38" x 74"

  • Twin XL: 38" x 80"
(Split King options available for adjustable bases.)

  • Full: 54" x 74"

  • Queen: 60" x 80"

  • King: 76" x 80"

  • California King: 72" x 84"
(Split Cal King options available for adjustable bases.)

Do I need a box spring or foundation?
Yes. Proper support is important to keep your warranty valid and extend the life of your mattress. You don’t always need a box spring, but you would want some sort of foundation to provide proper support. Lots of frames act as foundations and have slats that provide proper support if not more than 4” apart.

What’s the difference between innerspring and memory foam?
Innerspring mattresses tend to be bouncier, while memory foam molds to your body for a weightless feel.

Which mattress is best for back pain?
Medium to firm mattresses are usually best, but always follow your doctor’s advice if you have specific needs.

Which mattress is best for side sleepers?
Pillow-top / Euro-top mattresses work great for cushioning hips and shoulders.

What about stomach sleepers?
Most stomach sleepers prefer a firmer mattress to prevent the back from arching.

What type of mattress is best for heavier people?
The key is proper spine alignment and support — the “right” mattress varies by body type and sleeping style. Come try a few!
